Christian Discipleship

Welcome to our section on Christian Discipleship. There are many issues that we will need to discuss that pertain to being a disciple of Jesus. A disciple is one who learns from and obeys his master. Our master is Jesus Christ and these lessons will help you learn to follow him faithfully. The first step in becoming a disciple is to make a decision to follow Jesus. When Jesus called persons to be his disciples, he placed them in a small community, a group of twelve persons. It is vital that you form such a group, no more than twelve, to study these lessons together. We are the body of Christ and when two or three of us are gathered together, Jesus is in our midst, helping us to know him as well fellowship together. Therefore, find a few other people, even two or three would be enough, to help you study these lessons.

There are many things to study, but we will begin with Scripture for it is Scripture that teaches about Christ and how to live the Christian life. This will be followed by a study of worship. For Anglicans, the Holy Eucharist is the principal form of worship on Sunday, the day of the resurrection. The links are given below. Before we being, however, let us ask God to illumine our hearts and minds that we might become disciples worthy of the name.

Blessed Lord Jesus, thank you that you have called us to be your disciples. Pour out upon us, we pray, your Holy Spirit that our minds might be illumined and our hearts strengthened to know and follow you as obedient disciples. Amen.
